Title: Wireless programming from SRAM?
Post by: ichilton on February 03, 2014, 08:58:56 AM
Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible to use an SRAM chip like the Microchip 23K256 instead of the flash chip?

The pinout seems to be exactly the same as that shown on the LowPowerLab blog and i'm thinking that as long as the power is not disconnected, the data should still be there upon resetting the ATMega328.

Any thoughts, or anyone tried it?

Thanks,

Ian

Haven't tried it. The SOIC footprint is there to fit the common SPI FLASH chips. I have tried a handful of FLASH Chips, all worked with my SPIFlash library - https://github.com/LowPowerLab/SPIFlash
If your chip can work at 3.3V and has the same pinout give it a try and let us know, it should be fine. But I don't know if my library will work with that, my guess is not.
