Title: CheckForWirelessHEX vs SoftwareSerial
Post by: Westy87 on December 10, 2016, 11:12:59 AM
I've been playing with a Moteino project using the Sparkfun Fingerprint Scanner [https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11792]. The Fingerprint scanner library seems to work, but if I include CheckForWirelessHEX
the sketch locks up. The FPS library [/https://github.com/sparkfun/Fingerprint_Scanner-TTL]makes use of SoftwareSerial so that the device doesn't occupy the hardware serial port. I suspect the SoftwareSerial and CheckForWirelessHex are fighting with each other. Any ideas on how to get both working together?
My Moteino sketch is here:  [https://codebender.cc/sketch:418940]

At a quick glance I see lots of little blinks and delays (50, 100ms etc) and that tends to not be great for the radio loop.

I would start with a known working RFM69 radio loop and add the FP library to that and increment from a working point.

FWIW the WirelessHEX69 is not obsolete and merged into RFM69 (RFM69_OTA.h) so you can use that. Also note OTA uses the WDT timer to reset the cpu, and needs the hardware serial.
