Title: RFM69HW vs RFM95 - Both at 915 MHz
Post by: zachaol on November 01, 2015, 06:09:02 PM
Hello,

I love the chart located here: https://lowpowerlab.com/blog/2013/06/20/rfm69-library/

However I wish it had been updated to include the new RFM95.

Thanks!!!

RFM95 and 96 use LORA, a very different technology. They are different chips and work differently. Its like gas engines vs diesel engines :)
See this page for more on LoRa (http://lowpowerlab.com/moteino/#lora).
I will continue to add more information there as it becomes available.
For now you should note that the LORA chips do not have hardware encryption, but the packet engine supports much longer packets. However because of the modulation approach it may not be feasible to transmit very long packets. Its a technology that facilitates very long range at the expense of lower bitrates and hence longer transmission times.
