Hi,
I am new to using RFM69 communication and am trying to connect an RFM69HCW 868MHz module (no breakout board) to an Arduino Pro Mini 8MHz/3V3 (both powered through external datasource).
I made two, one being a node and the over one being the gateway. Even if everything seems ok, I cannot get them to communicate.
For the wiring :
RFM69HCW | Arduino Pro Mini |
| GNDs | GND |
| 3.3V | VCC (3.3V too) |
| SCK | SCK |
| MISO | MISO |
| MOSI | MOSI |
| NSS | SS |
| DIO0 | INT0/PD2 |
| RESET | unlinked (also tried to connect it and do hard reset from arduino) |
SPI communication is ok as i can for instance read RFM69 module temperature, if SS is changed or anything connected differently than previously stated, send command freeze.
I cannot get any exemple to run, for instance using Struct_receive and Struct_send from https://github.com/LowPowerLab/RFM69/tree/master/Examples
the sender keep outputting "Sending struct (10 bytes) ... nothing...", and nothing is received on the receiver side.
The only thing I changed from the example is the frequency definition to use 868MHz (//#define FREQUENCY RF69_868MHZ) and remove everything related to flash memory as there isn't any on my arduino.
I tried increasing decoupling capacitor size, rewiring, using an external power source in place of ftdi programmer, disabling ATC, changing power level, setting precise frequency manually...
I absolutely have no idea what to check next, is there any way to have information on what is happening, test to do, etc ?
Any help will be greatly appreciated :D
The standard answer for "Help my RFMXXX+ArduinoProMini does not work" is this:
Save yourself the trouble and start with a working board designed for RFM69. Perhaps a Moteino (http://lowpowerlab.com/shop/moteino).
Hi, sorry for wasting your time, off course a working board is easier but the objective is to build a custom board with the minimum of components.
I finally fix the issue by removing the bread board and soldering everything and it now works perfectly... As I said I was pretty sure of everything I had done and the question was about what I could not think of after spending a full day on this. Loose cable... even after rewiring and checking everything...
You can delete the topic as it will not help anyone else, keep up with your good work and thank you again. Have a nive day !
