Title: 868-915 mHz - which is it 869 or 915??
Post by: HeneryH on November 04, 2018, 02:26:20 PM
I'm confused by the mixed nomenclature.  For instance, looking at antennas on DigiKey, I see one antenna that has 915mHz center freq then another that shows 868-915.  Then on the LowPowerLab site, I see a lot of instances where the transceivers are listed as 868-915 without a choice to select which one.

This antenna is listed as 915mHz center - https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/nearson-inc/S152AH-915S/730-1007-ND/1628302
This antenna is listed as 868MHz, 915MHz center - https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/multi-tech-systems-inc/AN868-915A-10HRA/881-1242-ND/5246371

The LPL shop for buying Moteinos lists 868/915 for transceivers - https://lowpowerlab.com/shop/product/99
But the dipole antenna says you need to trim the length depending on the freq - https://lowpowerlab.com/shop/product/161

Can someone explain what is going on with the mix/match on 868 vs 915?

You select the freq. In your sketch.

//#define FREQUENCY     RF69_433MHZ
//#define FREQUENCY     RF69_868MHZ
//#define FREQUENCY     RF69_915MHZ

So the hardware supports both equally (at least marginally) well?

A 915MHZ transceiver will work for 868MHZ as well but not 433MHZ.  You need a 433MHZ transceiver for that frequency.

That is correct, there are only 3 modules, 315, 433 and 868/915. Last one you can use in either band
