Sump pump alert
« on: August 19, 2015, 07:18:22 PM »
I am looking at felix's sump pump alert project. I looked at the sonarmote and the older version with the HC-SR04 sensor. Does the HC-sr04 require the lipo battery? I'd rather not have to use it. I'll have a usable 5v power supply. Also, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe I'll need the HC-sr04 sensor, two moteinos, the atxraspi, and a RaspberryPi. And my power supply. I want to make sure I order all I need at one time. Thanks for your help

Hi Kilo95, thanks for posting this here.
Bear with me please, I will put together a SonarMote kit that has everything that's needed (including Moteino of your choise via product options), but not the battery which you will have to source elsewhere, any LiPo will work but 1000mAh+ is recommended. I have 6 SonarMotes PCBs assembled, and need to lasercut the cases still, then make the kits.

The code for SonarMote is posted here.
This allows very low power operation that will last a long time, and when the battery is low, the Gateway UI will show you that and you can recharge quickly like a phone, via USB cable, then put it back in the sump well.

I should be able to prepare the kit tomorrow, unless something critical comes up.

So over 1000mah for the lipo. Which voltage? I'm seeing 7.4v and 11.1v on Amazon.

3.7V only!
This should fit the case I will make: https://www.adafruit.com/products/258
Sorry I haven't gotten to it yet, as usual things got crazy towards the end of the week. Bear with me..

Ok. Thanks. I have dealt with electronics before just not anything using RaspberryPi and such. I want to make sure it doesn't sizzle when I hook it up, hence all the questions. Thanks for all the help

How many did you need, just one?
I have one soldered up, you'd have to get a separate Moteino and solder the side headers.
I lasercut some cases today. I need to take photos and put up a product on the shop...

Just one for now. I can solder the headers on. Are they included?

Sure .. I will throw in headers.

Just a bit more patience please till i get it setup.

Are you able to "figure out" most things on how to put it together? I can probably send you a pre-soldered one. Then get a LiPo battery from adafruit and a Moteino and you're ready to roll.

I've taken more shots and put them up on the SonarMote page.

Awesome. Thanks. So I just need another moteino and a RaspberryPi for it to send text messages?

And drumroll ... it's in the store!
More photos in this album.
Does't look like much but I practically spent all my available time today to make this available ... and it's still not all done. I need to work on the sonar mote page to add assembly instructions and tabify that page since it looks terrible right now.

Yes you'd need a Moteino on the receiving end. Just pick the same type, I recommend RFM69HW-915 for USA, shorter antennas and they work great for all around your typical property (with the out of box library settings).

Any other questions let me know.
