We finally published the project!
A Flexible Arduino-Based Logging Platform for Long-Term Monitoring in Harsh Environments

Just wanted to say thank you to folks in this, and other forums, for the guidance and encouragement as we developed this project over the last few years. We went with an open access journal so the PDF is free for all to download, and hopefully build upon with their own ideas.
Also there's a cameo from the Moteino Mega, which is my #1 choice for projects that need the extra sram available in the 1284.
