Thread on Moteino / Raspberry Pi gateway

I would like to follow projects using a Moteino / Raspberry Pi gateway.

Felix Node based gateway looks very nice and I'd love to see how it's working
for others.

Ever the contrarian, I'm trying a Java based gateway.  Actually, there is a java
based node clone in the works from Oracle.  I've yet to start any Node projects,
perhaps this will convince me.

In any case, interfacing to Moteino has got me excited.

Felix

I am biased against Java and Oracle. I like Node a lot.

But how about a Python based gateway?
This guy has a nice intro to Tkinter series, the main python UI framework.
Looks pretty easy to get started: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcACl0sUJeQ

I will look at this.

I've been using multithreaded JRuby with an HTTP server embedded for a while
so I want to see if I can get this framework to implement a RPi/Moteino gateway.

Your work with Node is very nice and I will be comparing what you are
doing with Node against my progress.  This may be what gets me started with Node.
I have done some asynch programming with JavaScript, so I am not without
JavaScript experience.

Interesting, but in my mind a gateway interface should be https/html based.

Perhaps I'm not understanding what you're suggesting doing with Tkinter.

Felix

When you mentioned Java my mind went to desktop apps, but maybe you meant JSP beans or some kind Java server technology?
I looked into Python GUI development a little for a desktop backend app to support wireless programming along side the real gateway which could be in python or something else. But didn't mean a gateway app using Tkinter.

I'll report later when I have more to show.  I'm scripting a simple HTTPS
library with the Oracle JDK.  The package it's from has excellent tools
for event handling and multi-threading.
