Gateway does not receive both ACKs from paired SwitchMotes [solved]

I originally opened a github issue for this ( https://github.com/LowPowerLab/RaspberryPi-Gateway/issues/32 ), but Felix mentioned a forum discussion would be a better place to discuss this issue, so here I am :)

My setup: I have 2 switchmotes and one gateway on my RFM69 network. Both switchmotes have 3 buttons, one switchmote (node 2) has one relay, the other switchmote (node 3) has 2 relays (one on button 0, the other on button 2). Button 2 on node 3 is SYNCed with Button 0 on node 2, and vice versa. This allows me to remotely and locally control one of the relays on node 3, with the on/off status being correctly represented at both the local and remote switchmotes. The direct SYNC feature between these two switchmotes (completely ignoring the gateway) works flawlessly and I love it.

The problem: If I press switchmote node 3's local relay button, OR node 2's "remote" button, the gateway only receives one node's status update, not both. This is not a gateway RF problem, because the gateway has no problem controlling or receiving updates from non SYNCed button events. This is also not a Gateway software issue, as just watching the raw serial output of the gateway moteino shows the same problem, only one ACK update instead of two.

What can be done to solve this problem?
