Title: Why is this on the R4 Moteino.brd Eagle file?
Post by: sketchy on March 01, 2014, 02:07:55 PM
Can you please let me know why the two pads (see attached image) are on the PCB layout (connected to DIO0)?  (I apologize if I stated this incorrectly.  Hopefully the image clarifies what I am asking.  I am trying to learn...)

thank you.

Hmm ... why those particular 2 pads are there?
There are 2 sets of pads, one to fit the RFM69 radios, one for RFM12B. They are the same pads just not in the same place so they are joined by traces wherever space allows.
Did I answer your question?

Hello Felix,
I attached an image of the back layer with RFM69HW pins identified. I circled in orange the "other" pads.  Are these for the RFM12B?

Also - I note there are not pads for pins on the RFM69HW that are not used.  Since I am learning I'm looking for "best practice."  Why not put all pads on?

THANK YOU

Yes so that set is for RFM12B.
Basically only the pads that need to be soldered are on there. Otherwise I'd be spending double the amount of time soldering, a very expensive resource.
