Title: Using Moteino underwater
Post by: RLP on September 02, 2014, 01:27:13 PM
Hello,

I am working with some researchers examining/monitoring Amazon fish sensory and active behavior and am interested in possible applications with a platform the size of a Moteino, which I've use successfully with students whom I mentor in robotics.  I was wondering if there is a version of the Moteino that could perform well underwater (fresh, not ocean), which would require a radio that would operate in the vicinity of 100MHz.

Thanks!

Hi RLP,
Depending on your range requirements, you could start with a 433mhz radio and use it a lower frequencies. Performance will start to suffer the farther away you go from the hardware tuned frequency.
For waterproofing you might want to encase the Moteino in epoxy.
