Hello there and I am quite glad that there is a lot of information about RFM69W transceiver and it seems you guys will help me solve my puzzle. I am currently working with rfm43 as transmitter and rfm69 as receiver by interfacing with dsPIC30F microchip product.
Problems: 1. is it possible rfm43 to communicate with rfm69w
2.i have written quite enough line of code for both and rfm43 works fine on oscilloscope but i could not receive it on rfm69w.
your help is valuable and i am new to both modems.
Hi GTS,
Based on quick glancing at the specs they should theoretically be able to talk. But just like RFM69 and RFM12B, they are different chips, different architectures and registers and packet engines etc.
So you'd have to become intimately familiar with the datasheet before getting them to work. That's a hard task. I'm not an RF expert and I've spent countless hours developing the RFM69 library. I would not want to go through that again soon, given that some of the concepts are now easier to understand, but still lots of details are already not in my mind any more.
Bottom line is ... if you have say 10 units (i would say even 100 if I were you) of one and try to salvage them to make them talk to the other type of radio, it's pretty much pointless. It's far more worth it to just get the new radio you decide on and take ready working code and run with that, it could save you weeks of wasted time. Unless you got unlimited time to tinker and fiddle with making them talk to each other. But these radios are so cheap that it makes no sense, my time is far more valuable, so I would not do that. If your RFM43 works well go with that, why complicate your life. If RFM69 is better go with that.
Just my 2 cents...
