Just a short question that won't hijack this thread. What are the primary differences between the RFM69H and the RFM69HW? Looking at their datasheets, I don't see anything obvious.
They are the same chip, just different amplifier output path. It's like the same engine in 2 cars, just one has a turbo one doesn't. And you have the wire it right otherwise they won't work right. You do that with the registers, so the chip wires the output according to the amplifier hooked up to it.
Just wanted to say thanks Phillip and Felix, i think i've correctly lowered the bit rate and seen distance improvements!
had to fiddle with it for a while, and seems like it works best when the code you explained to me was placed at the bottom of the setup. I did have some problems with the communication at first, it seemed to freeze up after a few transmissions, but then i lengthened the ACK response time (to 300) and while the payloads are steady and come through regularly, the ACKs don't seem to be functioning- i'm kind of ok with this as getting the data is paramount, but the ACK seems like a great part of the programming structure and would like to make that functional as well. Have any of you guys encountered similar problems?
And I do have one more question- Felix i saw you mention that you had a mesh library (that is currently unreleased) in the motion mote discussion- this library is something i'm looking for in earnest and would love to experiment with. is this mesh lib something that you plan on releasing? it would be a great help for my the sensor network i'm trying to construct. The geographic domain is far too large in the urban environment i'm trying to study, and a mesh networking library would be a great solution.
thanks again for your help!
I have a mesh library, but I am keeping it unreleased at this point. If you want to license it for your project please contact me privately.
There's another mesh library here that you might want to give a try: http://www.airspayce.com/mikem/arduino/RF69/
The mesh library Felix referred to is no longer being supported. The replacement is http://www.airspayce.com/mikem/arduino/RadioHead. It supports a large number of radios (including the RFM69W/HW) and microprocessors and has recently been undergoing very active development.
