Title: RFM69HW not sending with high power set [SOLVED]
Post by: noven on April 05, 2015, 07:54:58 PM
I'm having unexpected results with acks when using high power. I have one moteino and one uno, both with RFM69HW radios. Using any code (including examples) the moteino works fine but the uno won't send if radio.setHighPower(); is set, although it does still receive. If I disable radio.setHighPower(); it works to send. It certainly *is* an RFM69HW and as it works without HP set I presume it isn't a wiring problem. Has anyone seen this effect before?

No it should really work. But I can't speak for UNO since I haven't used one in ages. Check your D2 interrupt wire, sounds like SPI is working but your interrupt might not be triggering. It's almost always a wiring or config issue. And of course using a RFM69 with a UNO means you need voltage dividers and 3.3V power to it, not the 5V UNO provides by default.

Simple solution in the end. I'd powered from the Uno 3.3v output, which I just discovered only provides 50 mA - enough for 'normal' mode but not enough once switched to high power. Now I just need to find a voltage regulator to power from the 5v output and I expect it will work.
