Title: R3 Stock
Post by: phedders on September 14, 2013, 02:33:21 PM
(I hope this is the right place to ask).

How are things going with the R3 restock? I've newly discovered your amazing diminuitive wonder, and would love to order some! Do you have a rough ETA?

Cheers!

My PCB order with hackvana was supposed to be delivered weeks ago. I was told the shipping would take about 11 days with HK post and not to worry because it's in "good hands" with Hong Kong Post - which I only tried after the owner bragged how good a service it is. Big mistake that I won't repeat. The joys of manufacturing...

Still waiting with no idea when it will arrive.  :-[

China manufacturing is a love/hate story that I can't wait to divorce out of for good, unfortunately I need a 5000 pc order to get the china price in the US. Otherwise I'd have to hike the price by $1-2/board which I'd hate to do.

Will continually look into other options.

Many thanks for the update! I hope they do arrive soon, although your "free time" will vanish once they do ;)

Cheers!

Hey I hope so too. Otherwise I will have to reorder when I lose my patience.

FWIW, I have got board incredibly fast and great quality from here:

I realize it is China and you might be a bit jaded, but so far I have had a pretty good experience with them.

Seed is good for prototyping not for production. I have to cut the PCBs which is a pain...

Looks like they are showing some tracking and should show up today or tomorrow.

I am surprised that you have such a bad experience with HK Post.  I had use them many time in the past and they always have good and consistent delivery time into Perth.  On of my ex-colleague is in the importing business and he uses HK Post a lot and have no complaint.  I have not used them lately due to my main supplier has shifted their operation into China and used China Post.  The joy of waiting for delivery via China Post make me appreciate how good HK Post was.  The following is a tracking record of something send via registered airmail recently on China Post with the tracking number removed:

A total of almost 5.5 weeks from posted in China to collected in Australia.  Now this is supposed to be AIRmail not snail mail.

China post takes long, and it's almost bearable. That order with HK post is the first and last. It was ridiculous.
Shipping to australia is probably != shipping to michigan USA  ;)
