Powering Moteino from motorgear for sliding gates (AC)
« on: December 04, 2019, 04:15:36 PM »
Hi,
I've plans to control my sliding gates with Moteino and I was wondering if I can use one of the power outputs from sliding gates motorgear (Beninca Bull 8, see schematics HERE, 1st page).
There are two 24Vac/0.5A outputs, which are used for photocells and 12V outputs.
Description of the outputs:
 • +12V COMMON - Common for control inputs.
 • 24Vac - Output, power supply of accessories, 24Vac/500mA max
 • COM (+12V) - Common for limit switches.
 • 12-0-12 Secondary - Connection of secondary winding of 24V transformer

Can I wire some kind of AC to DC converter to one of these outputs and power Moteino with it?
If yes, which ac-dc converter do you suggest?

Thanks!

Felix

Diode rectifier (any general purpose diode) + capacitor smoothes out the AC, then feed it into a DC-DC converter to bring it down to "nice" inputs for the Moteino LDO.
