Title: Power Shield for Moteino Mega Question
Post by: Tomega3 on December 24, 2014, 12:53:49 PM
Are there any plans for a Power Shield for the Moteino Mega?

If yes, would adding in a ftdi chip be possible to support programing and serial io to/from the Moteino Mega?

My current plan is to use a Moteino Mega (1284p) as a Gateway node and several Moteinos (328p) as nodes.
All nodes may run on lipo batteries and possibly solar power.
For solar power I am thinking of using the power shields usb port interface to charge the lipo.
Having the ftdi chip on the Power Shield I think will simplify development and deployment testing.

Thanks

Well... there are no explicit plans at the moment. I am trying to dig myself out of a backlog of other things which has been on my to-do list for weeks and weeks. So right now I am concentrating on trying to release the other things I have waiting then I can look into new projects.
Making a shield with the FTDI chip is also a bit too customized in my mind and would require a bit more circuitry to make it battery friendly because of the FT chip. So this can go in many directions and as soon as 1 version is released a lot of people would want mods and changes because they would use it differently etc.
