I have a Moteino project that I need to connect to an outdoor power outlet.
Here is my current setup:

My concern is I do not know how to power the Moteino without the FTDI adapter:
Moteino->FTDI adapter->USB cable->5V power adapter->power outlet
Does anyone have a way to power Moteino to power outlet without FTDI or is that the only option?
If anyone has pictures of a simpler alternative I would appreciate it.

By 'power outlet', I presume that you are referring to an AC receptacle providing 120 or 230VAC?
To power the Moteino AND use the FTDI cable, you need to disconnect the PWR pin from the right angle FTDI header (its easiest if you simply cut of the header pin number 3). Then you can attached a DC voltage ranging from 3.7V to 16V on the PWR pin (second Moteino header pin on the 'analogside'). Ground return would attach to the GND pin (first pin on the analogside, closest to the FTDI header).
If you do it this way, you can still use the FTDI interface for debugging/code update as long as you have your main power supply operating.
To produce the voltage for the PWR pin, there are plenty of choices ranging from an unused USB wall wart, to a modular power supply. DAGS "5 volt power supply" and you'll have plenty of choices.

I think he just wants to go from OUTLET > wall power supply (5V/phone charger) > Moteino
The wall wart supply will provide GND and power/5V (I would recommend only up to 12V even though up to 16V can be fed into newer Moteino R4s).
Connect GND to Moteino GND and power to "VIN" (pin right next to GND on side header or third up from GND on the FTDI header). So just 2 wires and your Moteino should work.
Worth to mention that older Moteino R4s used MCP1702 which only supported up to 13.2V so that's part of the reason why I recommend not more than 12V if your Moteino is older than a few months.
Most phone chargers or wall supplies give you 5V so that is well within range of any Moteino.
