First of all, I love the Moteino! I went through a lot of arduino clones and Moteino is by far the best in power consumption and size. And thank you Felix for the improved RFM12b library. It makes things easier for a noob like me.
I went through the examples in the RFM12b and successfully got my prototype working between the node sending ADC readings to the gateway. I am currently planning to have 6 nodes sending data to one gateway. I want know, what happens when two nodes transmits data at the same time to the gateway. Does the RFM12b library handle collisions automatically?
I looked through the library source, but it is way over my head.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Thanks dickson, glad to hear Moteinos are working out for you!
The RFM12B library is always listening to the channel for activity. There's a threshold of "activity" beyond which the transceiver will consider that the channel is busy. In that case the library will wait until the channel becomes available. I guess there's still a chance for collisions if another transceiver transmits on the same frequency at the exact same instance, but that chance is greatly reduced by the mechanism above.
In any case, to avoid potential collisions and/or lost/garbled packets, you should implement an ACK/retry scheme, as shown in some of my examples. The library also has some helper functions to go with that, like ACKReceived() or sendACK().
