Hello Felix.
Recently I bought 2 moteinos with the RFM69HW, one with the USB and the other without.
The one without USB gives me very strange readings regarding current consumption.
With the radio and moteino on it draws 72mA.
With the radio in sleep mode and moteino on it draws 71.2 mA.
With both the radio and the moteino in sleep mode it draws 64.5 mA.
On the other hand, the USB-Moteino has very good performance, current drawing wise.
I get 7uA (micro) with both the radio and the moteino sleeping and 7.15 mA with the moteino awake and the radio sleeping.
When I send some data and wake the radio and the moteino up with an interrupt, I get 23.6 mA on a 3 second delay() and then it goes back to 7uA on the sleep mode.
What is it with the 1st moteino? Did I fried the regulator? I guess I could try to change it.
I'm about to order a couple more of these. Could you send me an SMD regulator for replacement along with the radios?
For troubleshoot, to see if the problem is the voltage regulator, if I desolder the regulator off and feed 3.3V to the 3.3V pin directly, should I get normal Amp readings?
Thank you
You probably fried the regulator but you can try to feed 3.3V on the "3.3" pin. If it's still the same then desolder the regulator and try that again. If it's still the same then you might have fried the radio.
Try those things and let me know. I can add in a regulator for you on the next order if it turns out it's the regulator.
Well the funny thing is that all works right.
I tried to connect the 3,7V battery directly to the 3.3V pin but I got the same results. But the radio works fine. I have it working as a gateway connected to the USB port with the FTDI adapter so for now all is good.
I'll try without the regulator.
I'll make the order later on.
Thank you.
