Issue getting 2 moteino talking

Hello,

Im having an issue trying to get 2 boards talking to each other...

They both are using RFM69HW

One is powered by a 3.7v battery via a lipo rider

The other is powered via an easy stepper driver which has a 3.3v power output rail. The driver board is powered by a 11.1v battery.

Im using pre existing code that is part of a DIY project the original code was coded for RFM12B  there is an updated version of that code to work with RFM69 which is what I'm using,  so I am wondering if I need to alter that code to work with RFM69HW to make them talk.

Another thing I did notice was the code fails to upload to one of the boards directly from the FTDI adapter unless it has the power source switched on from the stepper board as well.

So just curious if the board has  fried and thats why they are not communicating. (the D9 led indicates that its receiving information when the code is being uploaded.)

Thanks

Antonio,
The fact that it uploads at all indicates that there is some kind of missing detail or unexpected wiring somewhere. Please check your wiring.
The units should be functional. If you load them with modified/custom code please check everything one more time. To verify they work please use the stock send/receive sketches.

Hi Felix,

Listening at 433 Mhz...
SPI Flash Init FAIL! (is chip present?)

[99]  [RX_RSSI:-29] nodeId=99 uptime=9300 temp=91.23 - ACK sent.

[99]  [RX_RSSI:-29] nodeId=99 uptime=10500 temp=91.23 - ACK sent.

I get that on receive end

Both LEDs are flashing.

I have confirmed that there is an problem with the power rails on one of the boards as it only works if power is being supplied via FTDI and GND and VIN.  I have ordered another board. I will wait until that arrives to continue testing properly.

In the mean time I'll double check the code I'm trying to work with...

Thanks

Felix

Ok, sounds good.
One word of advice is not to permanently power the board via the "3.3" port. That is more an output than an input. It's the output from the 3.3v regulator.
Even if you have a 3.3V source, connect it to "VIN" and not to "3.3".
