Title: I think I blew up my FTDI Header...
Post by: aburfitt on November 08, 2017, 11:30:16 PM
Hi Guys,
Just a quick check.
I plugged the FTDI Header board into my usb port for programming but then accidently applied 12V to the Moteino board it was attached to.
The FTDI Board no longer works...
Anyone know of any fuses etc that may have blown?

I think I am up for a new board but are working on a project that I need to finish asap and don't have a spare board.
Its my own fault but hoping for a miracle fix. ;D

I think you should consider yourself fortunate if you haven't blown out the USB port on your computer.  No fuses, sorry.  Probably toasted the FTDI adapter, but you should be able to find one 'locally'.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the response.
Yes very lucky I didn't blow the USB port.  I realised pretty quickly and disconnected it but it wasn't quick enough to save the FTDI Board.
My nearest store that sells them is 1.5 hours away so I am off to get one tomorrow.
