I have a relatively simple way to attach the sensors to my GarageMote on my Genie Screw Drive door opener. To do so will require one of the sensors to be about 10 feet from the GarageMote. I've read here on the forum about using Cat5/Cat6 cable to do the run, but there was no mention of whether the wiring within the Cat5/Cat6 needed to be solid or stranded.
I noted the short cable provided with the Garagemote has solid core wires.
Does it matter?
I haven't tried it, but I don't think it matters.
I'm more worried about voltage drop over such a long stretch of cable.
At least it's easy to test without mounting the cable up in your garage, just try it with a 10ft length of cable while it's still on the ground to really see how it behaves and how reliable the hall sensor readings are. Let me know how it works.
