Title: A complete room sensor solution?
Post by: splendid2k on May 30, 2015, 06:01:01 AM
Hi guys,

I'm really wanting to start putting sensors in every room of my apartment with the following requirements:

I've seen some really inspiring examples, one of the best I've seen is http://jeelabs.org/2010/09/21/room-node-mount-2/ but falls short at a good way of hiding the electronics.

I brought 3 moteinos last year but haven't come up with a solution that fits the above criteria yet.

The mailbox notifier made by Felix is also very awesome and I feel could be easily adapted for my needs. I can only see the Motionmote for sale which I feel will be too small to expand to my needs. Can we buy mailbox notifier kits?

Any suggestions guys? Surely some of you have sensors in your home that have to pass the WAF test!?

This thread slipped through the cracks.
Right now you can make a mailbox notifier with the MotionMote kit which I hope to have back in stock soon.
If you want to add temp/hum you can do that with a weather shield which will stack on top/bottom of moteino in a compact way, but will likely not fit in the standard MotionMote enclosure. But it's quite easy to make your own lasercut case.

If you just happen to have an idle Laser Cutter lying around the house somewhere...

Or submit the plans to one of the many online laser cutting services is another option :)
This is hard if you don't get it right the first time :P
But with so many hackerspaces around a lasercutter is pretty accessible.
