MightyHat without pi ?

Would it be possible to use the MightyHat standalone, both for the radio and LCD capabilities, not connected to a pi at all?

I'm trying to get the LCD to display something in that mode and haven't had any luck so far.

Primarily intended to be paired with a Pi, and not sure why you'd want to do that but ... Absolutely you can use it standalone. The serial going to the Pi could go to anything else (PC etc).
Then you can use the power button to boost 5v from a battery to a target or not... up to you.

The sample sketch is a good starting point to get data on the LCD.

Thanks Felix,   We are considering using the MH as a handheld device, since it already has the display and radio.  Naturally it would need to be recharged often.

One more question:  For testing sketches, can it be powered solely via the FTDI and still operate the LCD display?

Yes, here's a Mhat I just tested a minute ago on a test jig, FTDI powered only.
