Two quick comments...

1) The comment about the height

Attach the hex standoffs to your Pi mounting holes. The standoffs total height should be 17mm.

is for the B+ I suppose.  The A+ is not as tall.  Thinking more about this, if a minimal ens-size isn't important, I'll probably solder the connection headers to fit either the A+ or B+ since I have both.

2) Could you please include the extra spacer nuts in the kit.  The cost isn't nearly as much of a factor as the fact that I am assembling the kit and don't have any nuts.

To reach this height, add a screw from the bottom then mount combine the provided hex columns/nuts to achieve a column of 17mm height.

I'm ordering a Switch Mote tomorrow probably so I'll ask for a few nuts with that order.

Not really sure what nuts you refer to, but everything you need for a standard Pi is provided, and the assembly is illustrated in the guide.
I cannot really pull kits apart to include extras in other kits.
I would recommend a standard Pi, that will be more responsive than an A+, although it might work on both.

Ok yes, that's when the columns I supplied were not 17MM all in 1 piece so you had to stack the provided parts to get 17mm.
Now the kit has the 17mm columns so it's actually simpler.

Confirmed, the kit I just received had two stackable spacers that add up to 17 mm which is very very close to the minimum for the MightyHat power switch leads to clear the Network/USB assemblies on the Pi.  I didn't measure first time for the simple reason I didn't have a ruler handy.

Yup, so actually I was wrong when I said it's 1 17mm piece, it's actually two, which combine to 17mm. There's no way to find such an exotic standoff height, they are already pretty expensive as is.
I tried to keep the MHat+Pi assembly as compact as possible so it would look reasonable.
