Is there provisions for the same pushbutton w/LED that we use on the ATXRaspi/MightyBoost, or just the onboard button/LED combo?
Thanks
The provided onboard button can be soldered directly to the PCB, no wiring to worry about.
You can use any tactile button and standard LEDs in its place. The metal pushbutton is also an alternative. But you will need to figure out the wiring, although the PCB does have silkscreen that should help. Let me know if I didn't fully answer the Q.
Thanks Felix -
I'll take a look. I need to remote mount the switch on the outside of an enclosure, so the onboard one won't work too well!
Maybe you could use some perfboard to mount the original button, then use wiring to the main PCB. This RG button in the kit has 2 led's green and red. The chrome metal button only has 1 color - green. So if you end up using a button with a single LED you might need to change the code that controls the original RG button LED colors, just an FYI.
Thanks Felix -
I'll take a look when I get to that point!
Hey Felix -
Just ordered another MightyHat and wanted to talk about the external button again. Can I assume that there is no way to access the inputs and outputs for the Atmega328p on the MightyHat?
So if I wanted to wire up an external switch, I would have to wire it where the onboard switch is currently located (in place of or in addition to), is that correct?
Can I assume that there is a resistor on the board for the LEDs that are in the switch provided, or would I need to use additional resistors for LEDs driven by these pins (6 and 9 as I recall)?
Thanks!
The MHat pretty much uses all the GPIO of the ATMega328 when all its peripherals are used, hence the pins are not broken out anywhere other than where those peripherals are located (and only when they are through hole).
So the answer to your question, yes, you'd have to wire your external switch to the pinholes of the kit switch. All needed resistors are already onboard (5mA LED forward current assumed).
Got it...thanks Felix.
Worked like a charm Felix!
Awesome, I'm glad to hear the MHat is being hacked around and adapted in ways such as this. Thanks for posting photos of your progress!
No problem Felix,
Your Moteino stuff is great, they are perfect for my projects!!
