Init Failed: MoteinoMEGA and LoRa RH_RFM95

Using the latest Radiohead library (RadioHead-1.81.zip) and using the unmodified example rf_95 server sketch I get "init failed" in the serial monitor.

It works just fine if I use a standard Moteino.

I read other posts and visited the "its generally fun to use LoRa radios" page https://lowpowerlab.com/guide/moteino/#lora (anchor tag isn't working btw) and downloaded the latest library.

I'm new to this but it seems to me the MEGA uses a different pin out than the standard Moteino?

The MoteinoMEGA and RFM95 radio are correctly installed. I have tried three different units all with the same result.

Any thoughts?

UPDATE:  I found that the NSS line on the MotionMEGA is wired to PIN 4, while the standard is PIN 10.  I modified the sketch as below and it works.

#define RFM95_CS  4 //wd change NSS default from 10 to 4 for MoteinoMEGA
// Singleton instance of the radio driver
RH_RF95 rf95(RFM95_CS);

Yes others seem to have the same issue with MoteinoMEGA, although the pindefinition in the Moteino core does define SS=4, but somehow it is not picked up in the RadioHead library.
At least for now we know how to avoid this.

I just released a patched library that includes a fix for this, the link is on the Moteino LoRa page at the bottom.
With this patch, the default constructor will work when MoteinoMEGA or Atmega1284p is selected as target board.
