RFM22B frequency compatability

I'm using RFM22B modules on frs ch1 for a lost model beacon / locator
and was wondering if the RFM69 line can also be configured to the same frequency

Ch. 1  "5625" or "FRS 1" 462.5625

the moteino is a great sized board but however doesn't match the pin layout of the RFM22B
for which the beacon code and such is already developed for

the extra memory and onboard atmel would allow much more development in a smaller size

Anybody used the Moteino as a Lost RC Model Beacon? Several of these beacons are commercially available based on the RFM22B and there is code available for the RFM22B as used in the Open Source Long Range Radio system for RC aircraft. These all use the 433 Mhz band with configurable frequencies. Some people program them for FRS band and some in the HAM band and some in the ISM band. Just wondering if anyone has set one up using the Moteino? The homing signal is usually just an FM tone that can be picked up on a handheld radio. Some use several tones of varying output power to help with direction finding.

Sounds like a custom application. I'm sure you can get very close to that frequency, check the datasheet to see how to compute the frequency.
Then you will need to disable most of the packet engine, and encryption. Not really sure how the preamble and SYNC is setup on the beacon sender (if any) so you will also need to match those things as well. A bit of work but probably doable.

Felix, Thanks for the reply. I ordered up a couple of modules today and will be looking at implementing an RC model beacon. There is RFM22B code in PICAXE and for Arduino that implements this function so I am hoping it will be relatively straightforward to translate it over to the Moteino. I also have some interest in the regular wireless communication functions for some other uses.

here is the openlrsng beacon master source zip for anyone wanting to have a look at the code

thanks gregmchugh for finding it
