Hey Felix..
just a suggestion.. on the webstore..:
It would be good if people could purchase using Cryptocurrencies ! Maybe just the top few - BitCoin, Ether, LiteCoin, DogeCoin, DASH, Monero etc. I would happily pay a premium to pat this way - ie cover your side of the conversion to USD$ if you want.
I also think you should make it that people can send you a donation!!!! You're doing awesome work here.. as I have mentioned before, I would happily tip you some Doge or LiteCoin for your efforts. Perhaps add a SKU to your website - 'buy Felix a Coffee' - make it $5USD.
Hi vk3jap!
Hey I appreciate the suggestion, I think it's been suggested before.
I am not sure how to deal with cryptocurrency though.
Perhaps unfortunately, I have to confess I am not a firm believer in crypto stuff. I've spent a fair bit of time trying to understand the economics of cryptocurrency and while it's a neat motivation and idea behind it, I think its too volatile both in value and market sustainability, and still not widely accepted.
All my suppliers are paid in $(USD) and don't accept any crypto. While a crypto donation would be different (but see below) I prefer (at least at the moment) any webstore transactions in USD.
QuoteI also think you should make it that people can send you a donation!!!!
I used to have a donation button in the about section but I removed it. I would like to send something in return for a donation token, so anyone wishing to "donate" can/should buy a product and that will be appreciated while also giving something in return. Buying something directly from my store is the best way to support my efforts.
You set it up such that you get it in USD. Do a little learning on FIAT currency and FRACTIONAL reserve banking...and Mike Moloneys hidden secrets of money...see how you feel then 😁
:) What is the difference if I get it in USD? I already do get USD :D
It's a bigger discussion..😀 is it an easy payment method to add.? OpenCart?
I really don't know how easy it is. Yes opencart core. Unfortunately I don't have the time now to look into this.
Oh, too easy it seems : https://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=marketplace/extension/info&extension_id=22663&filter_license=0&filter_download_id=18
All good..just making a suggestion..I wonder what the interest is.
Some hefty requirements though:
REQUIREMENTS
1. bitcoind (this step requires the root access to install it)
2. 50Gb of free disk space (os + block chain + website data)
I really don't plan for my backups to increase by 50GB :-\
Nah, it's 50 gigabits ;) I always get worried when people who are supposed to know real complex technical info get simple things like this wrong (unless they really do mean bits)
Oh well .. it's only an 8X difference ! ;D
Still it's larger than the current backup. If this was 6.25MB ... then maybe it might pass as the largest extension I can think of, but only if it was the most awesome ;)
