Title: Top button on switchmote not working [solved]
Post by: nkg22 on August 10, 2015, 02:40:34 PM
Hi,

I just finished soldering my Switchmote R2 together and everything seems to be working well except for the top button.  The LEDs do not indicate that the button is turning them off.  When I press the button the red LED stays lit, and there is no activity form the green.  I made sure all my connections for the button were soldering well.  I'm not sure where to go from here.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Nolan

Please refer to the schematic of the shield (https://lowpowerlab.com/switchmote/#schematic).
Use a continuity meter to see if the button has continuity when pressed to the digital pin attached to it on the Moteino.
I know you indicated you checked your soldering but it's most likely a disconnect somewhere, not necessarily a soldering issue.

I followed your advice and confirm there is a disconnect between D6 and A5_D19.  When I connected them I saw the LEDs act like the button was pushed.  So, how should I try to fix this?  It's all soldered together and I'm not exactly sure where the disconnect might be.

I went over every pin labeled d6/a5 and resoldered.  It's working now!  Thanks!
