Stuck on Raspberry Pi usb wifi - where to get help?

I'm working on using a USB Moteino with my Raspberry Pi, but I have
been unable to get my Edimax EW-7811UN usb plug to communicate
with my wifi router and my projects will be of no use without that.
I get no errors other than dhcp discover getting no
responses and when sniffing wifi I have not seen any traffic.  I
am able to sniff wifi from my notebook computer, but don't see
any traffic on ifup wlan0 from the Pi.

I don't expect to get help here, but I don't know of a forum to get
troubleshooting help.  Any ideas?

I'm going to order another mini wifi plug from Adafruit as what they
sell has been tested with a Raspberry Pi.

Thanks.

The forum provided by the Raspberry Pi foundation is a really good source of debug help: http://www.raspberrypi.org/forum/ .

You should be able to the Edimax usb wifi dongle working...http://kp4tr.org/?page_id=320 .

Yes indeed.  I did not get any reply there on my first post.  I tried again and one of the regular experts fixed me up.

It turns out that the 2 Raspbian installs I tried did not install the wpasupplicant package.  Installing it did the trick.

I will document my journey and post a link here when (if?) I get anything useful going on my Raspberry Pi gateway.
