Title: RFM95 data read on laptop
Post by: Asterlux on January 05, 2022, 06:18:46 PM
Dumb question - is it possible to use the RFGatewayM4 on a regular PC?

I know it's meant for use on the Pi, but its still a regular USB output so can you read the RF data over the serial port on a regular laptop?

If not, does anyone have a suggestion for the best way to read data from an RFM95 sensor system on a laptop? My current thought is to use a raspberry pi with a RFGateway or some other device and then transmit that over a USB TTL cable to read via serial monitor on the laptop. But obviously skipping the Pi part of that would be better. Looking for any suggestions

Thanks

Its a USB port, will emulate a virtual com/serial port. As long as whatever you connect it to has drivers for such a serial port, you're good to go. Tablet, PC, Mac, Pi, whatever.
