Moteino and security light with PIR

Hey all,

I want to combine a Moteino with one of the stock security lights with motion sensor (like this one for example: https://www.amazon.com/Hyperikon-Outdoor-Security-Motion-Sensor/dp/B01ETUHXR4/). This way my gateway would also know if the motion sensor was triggered and I can take some other actions (start security camera, siren, etc).

I'd like to do these things:
- power the Moteino from the existing power module in the light (I'll probably need some kind of step-down converter)
- connect the Moteino to the motion sensor such that it knows when it triggered (while still allowing the light to function)
- BONUS: use the Moteino as a remote trigger so I can turn on the light even if the motion sensor did not trigger.

In essence, the security light will become part of the sensor network connected to the gateway and also can now be controlled remotely.

Did anybody attempt such a project or has any experience in this area and can provide guidance?

TIA!
