Galileo as gateway

Anybody have any experience using a Intel Galileo with RFM69HW 868 as a gateway?

I'm planning to do that with an arduino shield on the galileo and then a moteino on the i2c interface to the galileo. The galileo itself can't control the rfm board, I couldn't get that to work at least.
