No Communication via Serial Port

Hello, I just bought the Current Ranger and I want to switch off the Auto off Mode.
As mentioned in the Guide, I have plugged in the USB cable and was awaiting the Menu to be displayed. So I switched the Current Ranger on and off and tried the reset button. There was no reaction. I tried sending a '?', but still nothing. I dont even know the serial settings for the current Ranger (Baud rate, Databits, Stopbit, Parity). I tried this using Hterm, I could see the Com Port and could even connect.
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for help.

Felix

Open the serial port from ArduinoIDE if you have it, or from Putty. The serial is emulated so the serial settings are irrelevant, simply open the port at any baud etc, it WILL JUST WORK.
Ensure you have a known good DATA usb cable, and not just a charging cable (more common issue than you'd imagine).

Hi,

Just wanted to tag on to this thread. I received one of these in June, and finally getting around to using and had nothing happen on power up of the device. When I went to program, I didn't have anything come up in device manager at all. I verified that the cable is a data cable by plugging into a usb circuit we design.

I also tried opening the port in putty and Arduino and didn't see anything happening.

Any help is appreciated!

Felix

ggshayes,
If there is nothing in device manager, what port are you trying to open?
The device was configured over USB after flashing the firmware so there is no reason why it would not work, unless damage has happened to it somehow.
If you still can't get it to show up, I would start by looking at the USB connector inside/out and then the connections from it to the MCU.
