Interested in buying from the UK

Has anybody in the UK purchased a CR recently?  I'm interested in getting one as I'm working on a battery-powered ESP32 project and knowing what is going on with the current at various stages would be incredibly useful.

I've looked at both the LPL site and the German distributor, however, the german distributers site still seems to think that the UK is part of Europe, so I don't know if the shipping cost is correct.  I have emailed them to ask, along with questions as to whether they are registered for VAT with HMRC.

I don't want to purchase it to find that I subsequently get double hit with VAT, duty and handling fees.

So has anybody bought one recently and were there any additional changes that you had to pay to actually get hold of your package once it entered the UK?

Thanks

I pulled the trigger, it is what it is.

I need the device ASAP so I just went ahead.

I asked Welectron to take a look here but I guess that didn't happen...  :-\
Anyway I think you're better off ordering from EU than from USA, maybe import/clearance will be smoother.

Thanks, Felix, I bought it from Welectron and it arrived today.

Up and running, I'm working on a project that is battery powered using an ESP32, I soldered on the relevant connectors and powered up the ranger and my board, I could see the power usage as the ESP was booting and connecting to WiFi, updating the e-paper display and then going into deep sleep.

12uA once in sleep!

I can now perform more experiments, specifically ones outside of deep sleep.  I'm carefully reading what I can and can't do with regards to powering.

I've got a HC-06 coming for the ranger, but I think I should probably have bought two as I need to see the debug output on the ESP..  I have a couple of USB isolators kicking around, so I could use one of those and plug a TTL serial bridge in to dump over that.

I'm trying to be methodical so that I program myself to ensure it's always isolated from anything it's plugged into so that I don't end up connecting 2 earthed devices to it.

fizzyade,
Common sense, an understanding of basic electrical best practices, and perhaps a little reading of the guide will safeguard against any issues in most use cases.
But it's impressive you're being so diligent and careful with your investment!
