Ideas for plotting voltage and current?

Hi all,

New here. Started to use the CR recently and I was able to download and successfully compile and run CurrentViewer 1.0.7 on GitHub. This is really cool.

Where I'm going with this is not sure if it is possible with the design and code and haven't looked if the schematics is available... But it would be nice if somehow there was a way to also sample the DUT's voltage so that both the current AND voltage got piped-out onto the USB port.

We want to use the CR to monitor devices that run off various size battery packs and monitor current draw and battery voltage as the battery drains over a specified amount of time and under certain temperatures.

Would this be possible other than "hacking" the CR and pass the serial data to an external device I can modify which has two UARTS and read the CR's data while at the same time read the "modified device's" voltage through an AtoD then pipe those values out the second UART to my PC and from there, I guess I'd have to write my own application to display the graphs...?

Is there anything simpler you can think of?

Thanks!

Ben,
I've been meaning to chime in here, but didn't have a clear solution or answer so .. here's my few cents now.
Yes voltage logging would be awesome. With the CR being high side that's going to be a challenge to do all in the same 1 tool. Unless the schematic is significantly changed and probably BOM increased and hence PCB size and price increased, which all goes against the appeal of affordability.

Maybe another "VR" for voltage monitoring could be made, and then sync-d up with the CR via a passthrough cable (remember voodoo cards?  :o).
I will very much consider V logging if I ever remake the CR into a bigger better beast. For now everyone seems super happy with its bang for the buck and current is mainly of interest in low power development.

So to confirm your suspicion, your best bet right now is your suggestion to hack your way towards logging both. I'd love to see what you come up with.
For the record - I am now self tasked with finding a method of monitoring voltage in addition to current.
