Title: Slide / latching switch mode operation not working [solved by resoldering]
Post by: Colin on April 02, 2017, 07:58:06 AM
The board works when I use a momentary button (without the resistor). But when I add the resistor and connect the board like the image below it will not be powering on. Keeps dead.

I have the R2.7 version.

Any idea what this could be?

After you solder the 10K resistor (you confirm that's what you soldered?), and then apply uUSB power, the RED LED on ATXRaspi blinks twice confirming latching mode. What does yours do?

Yes, when the led blinks twice. And when I "close"  the switch nothing happens. No power on the output pins. And when opening the switch red the led blinks twice again.

The ATXRaspi RED "Shutdown" LED should only blink when you apply power, never again. So something is wrong there, maybe a short or something? Can you check your wiring and soldering please?
Also what do you mean by "opening" the switch?

By "open" I mean not connected, switch off.

For the good orders. The resistor is connect to the hole BTN near the two pins for the switch. Not to the outside pin of the two pins where the switch is connected on. Or are these the same, because I measure a connection between these points.

The diagram is very clear where the resistor goes. If the SHUTDOWN RED LED blinks twice when you give USB power to the ATXRaspi, then you got it right.
If it keeps blinking afterwards, something is wrong. I will ask you take close up photos of the board and wiring and post them on photobucket or imgur and put the links here so I can take a look.

Thanks, it works now. After solder the board again it works.

Thanks for the update, glad you got it working. Please feel free to provide any feedback of your experience using these new features of R2.7 (latching mode, separate reboot button).

Hello,

Just to doublecheck. Should 10k resistor be solder where black arrow points or where yellow arrow points?
Picture is in attachment/link.

Thank you.

Look at the guide (https://lowpowerlab.com/guide/atxraspi/assembly-install/).

Hi,

Tnx for fast reply.

I was looking at the guide first, but it a little bit confusis for me(I am noob obviously)  :(
Particularly, to which pin I should solder top pin (blue arrow points in the picture in attachment).
Is it going to the "BTN"hole or is it the hole in the square? (I see your diagram showing in the middle of them).

If you look closely they are the same connection, connected by a PCB trace. Either will work. But in the photo the left most one is shown.
