Title: having trouble getting this to work. [bad USB cable!]
Post by: TCMOrangeJoe on March 15, 2016, 05:29:07 PM
I'm currently working on a retro pie project, and i just really want this to work. ive done everything correctly from what i can tell. i have the newest retro pie img on the sd card, the atx is soldered correctly, hooked up to the correct gpio pins and everything, but when i press the button i have it hooked up to, both atx raspi leds light up, and no power goes to the actual raspberry pi. what could i be doing wrong?
seriously getting discouraged.

Could I possibly see a photo of the whole setup/wiring and what is attached to the Pi?
Power ON should always happen regardless if the GPIO is hooked up. What Pi version is this?

Okay, now i'm super frustrated. It's working. it was a faulty usb cable. the thing is, i had hooked the atx raspi up first, tested it, and it worked; so i moved on to the next part of the project. the other parts were a whole other headache, but i got them working. after getting everything working, i guess the crappy usb cable went out on me. I'll post the final product when i'm done getting it all together. thanks

tl;dr
faulty usb cable wasted 2 days of my time

Thanks for the update.
Having even a basic multimeter can go a long way sometimes.
