Full power-off from software (2) [solved]
« on: April 26, 2019, 10:30:52 AM »
Hi there!

I have connected my ATXRaspi to my Raspberry Pi B+ according to these instructions:

https://lowpowerlab.com/guide/atxraspi/full-pi-poweroff-from-software/

However, when I run the shell commands to shutdown the pi through SSH, the status LED blinks once and then nothing happens (thus, the pi does not power off).

In the text, a NPN transistor is mentioned but it does not appear in the diagram (I am a noobie in electronics). Therefore, I have not included this component in my case.

Any idea what's wrong?

Best regards,

What version of ATXRaspi do you have?

The version of ATXRaspi is the latest one (R3):

I received it maybe two or three weeks ago.

And the ATXRaspi is configured for momentary-button operation (default)?

Sorry, I just realized that I forgot to install the script on the first page. Everything works now perfectly well. Thank you for your reactivity.

Last question before testing: do you think that it will be ok when a camera is connected to the pi?

Best regards,

Absolutely. The ATXRaspi can handle more amps of current than you can deliver, with a very low voltage drop across it ;)
The only caveat is you need to have ultra super great connections TO and FROM it and INTO your Pi. Otherwise weak connections and solder joints act as resistors and voltage will drop and problems start to happen. I cannot emphasize that enough. The greater the current, the greater the voltage drop if connections/wires are weak.

Thanks a lot for your quick answer. It works perfectly with the pi connected to the camera :)

Is it possible to mark this topic as "solved" (by editing the title for instance) ?

Best regards,
