I'm wondering if I could trigger an ATXRaspi on and off via an extra GPIO on the Sonoff Basic (running tasmota)?

You have the new SoftPower for doing that. A HIGH on that is like keeping the button pressed. So i think it should work.
This is only supported in MOMENTARY button mode.
