Hi,
I'm using a ATXRaspi in a few 24/7 applications and we have recently gone through power outages. Is there a option to force a bootup after a power failure?
Umm, no. The board has no way of knowing that:
- you pulled the plug or
- there was an outage (equivalent to pulling the plug)
To do what you want, would mean to always auto boot the Pi when you plug it in, assuming there was an outage. That would also mean unintentional boots when you simply plug power (no outage).
As always, it's doable and some customers ordered custom firmware that does exactly that.
Why not make a new version (if ATXRaspi is still in developpement) with a push on, hold off button like this one : http://www.mosaic-industries.com/embedded-systems/microcontroller-projects/raspberry-pi/on-off-power-controller ?
The auto-on / auto-off switch can be replaced by a 3 way jumper.
It has 2 advantages on ATXRaspi version to my mind :
- you can use a software shutdown action from button with an hardware reset feature on holding button
- you can have an auto-start when power supply come back
Even without the auto-on feature, the hold off feature for hardware shutdown give the possibility to use the push button to tell the raspberry (or any other µcontrolleur like moteino) to run a shutdown procedure in proper manner.
EDIT: As I read in other discussions, it seems the software shutdown can also be initiate by the button ? I didn't saw it on schema .
It's something I can consider if I still have space on the board.
Since I don't have one, I don't know your constraints on this board, that was just a proposal that fit ramen's concern...
Are other boards than MOTEINO on ghitub ?
Not much, are you trying to help me improve all my boards with jumpers :) ?
Yeah, I love jumpers ! Is there a word for jumper fetish ? ^^
