Title: AtxRaspi and different button.
Post by: mheyman on July 12, 2015, 05:25:47 PM
Hey I want to use a separate button and LED to use ATXraspi. The LED setup is simple enough.

How would I got about wiring this button as the button? http://www.arcadeshop.de/Special-Mini-Minibutton-SDM-20-black_856.html

Does it matter which side is wired to which pin?

It should work just fine as long as it's a momentary button (not a latching button).
It does not matter which way you connect the 2 pins.
You can use any momentary tactile or similar button like that. The LED is where you will have to solder the + side correctly for your LED, and no resistor is needed (a 220ohm is already onboard).

Hi, sorry for posting in an old thread, but would I be able to use this button?

It's a latching type so no... they usually offer the non-latching (momentary) version as well. That's what you need, ie a switch that does not latch when you push it, but comes back fully.
I think this one (http://www.ebay.com/itm/19mm-12V-blue-Led-5-Pins-black-Push-Button-Angel-Eye-Metal-Momentary-Switch-car-/151941009794?hash=item236063d182:g:ADEAAOSw-ndToV7o) should work. Sometimes with china it's a gamble, they say one thing in the description and you get the wrong item. It happened to me many times. But it's worth a try if you want a custom color or size...
In my store I offer green ring 16mm chrome momentary buttons like that.

Oh, sorry. All of the other ones like it were momentary, I didn't notice that one latched. Thanks. I was just curious about the voltage not being enough. There are a lot of auto shops around here, so I'm gonna check there first.

The ones I get are 12V rated yet the 5v from ATXRaspi gives the ring a nice not too bright glow.
