[Solved] Error while wget shutdowncheck script

Hi Felix, I received my ATXRaspi a few days ago and I got it all wired up and working today.
I'm using the following distribution (https://sites.google.com/site/picoreplayer/home) with the objective to use the Pi as an audio player.
When I push my new fancy button, the Pi starts up nicely, and I can run piCoreplayer.

However, the full implementation of the ATXRaspi requires the shutdowncheck script.
While trying to wget this script, I get an error-message (see attachment).
What am I doing wrong..? (I'm a Linux newbie)

Felix

Internet connection?
If nothing works, just create the file manually:

$ sudo nano shutdowncheck.sh

Then paste the content of the script (copy, then paste with right click in editor): https://raw.githubusercontent.com/LowPowerLab/ATX-Raspi/master/shutdownchecksetup.sh
Then save with Ctrl-x, Y, then execute it and remove it, and do a reboot:

$ sudo bash shutdownchecksetup.sh
$ sudo rm shutdownchecksetup.sh
$ sudo reboot

Hi Felix, thanks for your post.
Microcore Linux - used as the basis for piCoreplayer - does not have Nano implemented.
And the vi editor (which is implemented) does not allow copy/pasting.
So it seems that I will have to copy your script manually.
I will try and let you know whether this works. Thanks.

Hi Felix,
Nano and bash are not readily available in Microcore Linux.
However, I was able to install those by means of tiny core enhancements (TCE).
So I managed to cut/paste the shutdownchecksetup.sh script in the root folder of picoreplayer.
The following problem was to find rc.local. I used the following Linux command: $ sudo find / -name rc.local
The query did not return any results, so it seems that no rc.local is available in the Microcore version I use.

Just for testing purposes; could you direct me to a Linux distribution image that should work for certain.
That would enable me to fully test my installation and soldering.
(I think it's OK because I can start my Pi with the button and I can shut it down by pressing the button for 10 sec.)
Thanks.

I recommend using Felix's image for a gateway which can be found here.  Using this you can test your setup.  I am pretty sure the image is based on Raspbian.

Felix

Yes mine is based on Raspbian (debian).
There are many distributions that will work with the ATXRaspi script. This is one I have not heard of yet, it's probably very limited and stripped down hence you cannot find the essential files needed.

Hein65

Felix, are you aware of any distribution that supports (former Logitech) squeezebox audio player and that will work with ATXRaspi..?

Felix

Sorry but no, since raspbian is debian based i would assume something like that would work on it. Otherwise retropie and other media center distributions should support something like that.

Hi Felix, I used your image for a gateway to test my installation and soldering.
Everything is working perfectly; starting, rebooting and stopping.
So I guess we can call this one solved.
Now I will try to find a disto which fullfills my needs and works with ATX Raspi.

Felix

Thanks for the update, glad it works :)
If you find another distro that works and still meets your media needs please consider sharing the info here for completion.

Hi Felix, seems that I found something that works for me.
First I installed the Volumio distro which is based on Raspbian/Debian:
https://volumio.org/

Next I managed to implement Squeezelite into this, based on the following instructions:
https://volumio.org/forum/install-squeezelite-volumio-rasppi-t657.html

Finally I installed the ATX-Raspi shutdown script. The button works fine and I'm able to start, reboot and shut down the Pi.

The Volumio/Squeezelite distro is able to output 24bit/192KHz (Hi-Res) music over the Raspberry USB port. This way the audio/sound is very good...!

Felix

Awesome, good work, thanks for the follow up details!  8)
