Why am I unable to program OTA a R4 Moteino?

I'm using all the PWM pins. The only one left is D9. Since the LCD LED pin must be connected to the GROUND to make it full bright, I assume that you are suggesting that no current will be sourced with the AnalogWrite(PWMPIN, 0..255). Is this correct? I always thought that AnalogWrite() would always make some current come out of the pin and not connect it to the ground...
