Title: MOTEINO USD PIN pulled high
Post by: [email protected] on June 21, 2023, 01:08:27 PM
I am using MOTEINO USB as LED driver using the PWM pins 3,6,9,11.
Pins 3,6,9 work fine nut pin 11 is pulled high.

Am I missing something about pin 11 or is it a bad pin.

attached is ARDUINO sketch.

If I switch the code from pin 11 to pin 5, everything works but pin 11 is still pulled high

I see you use the radio module RFM95 so pins 10-13 are part of that SPI communication with the module, hence the reason it is probably pulled high.

OK, I switched to pins 5,6,9,10.
I am using the PWM pins to drive 4 SPARKFUN LED controllers(Femtobuck part #com-13716).
I was having problems with some of the leds staying on in some parts of the sketch so I added 10K pulldown resistor to pins 5,6,9,10 and now I get the following error:

11:07:48.557 -> ERROR: Failed to put device in LoRa mode.
11:07:48.557 -> RH_RF95_REG_01_OP_MODE: 4
11:07:48.557 -> init failed

Any suggestions on what got fried??? I would assume a pulldown resistor would not cause a problem.

Pin 10 is also used by the radio module. Please use another pin instead.

Thanks for response.
So if I use the radio I have only 3 PWM pins available or is there another way??
Is my MOTEINO bricked or can it be reset somehow; it was working fine until I tied the pins to GND thru a 10k resistor

Pulldowns will really not harm anything, especially 10k being such a high value there is very little current going through that even if it's shorted to something.
As long as the Moteino still works and accepts an upload it should be fine.
And yes PWM capable pins are shared with the radio so you will have 3 left when the radio is in use.
You can bit bang PWM or perhaps some libraries can handle a non PWM pin.

Thanks
Great product, I keep finding more projects to use it on.
