Title: Inventor Needs Help/Will Hire for Possible Moteino Project
Post by: DaveC on October 19, 2014, 12:09:00 AM
Hi, I'm a patented inventor working on a new wireless project. I came across Moteino and am quite intrigued by it. I am not an engineer, just an inventor with (I hope) intriguing ideas. One concept I'm working on is basically a security-type monitoring system. I'd like to learn more about Moteino and if it could be utilized for this concept.

The idea is basically this: Use Moteino to create very small, low-power, low-cost, long-range (100m+) wireless nodes. When activated (ideally wirelessly from a sleep mode) each node would begin to advertise its presence, i.e., a unique ID code. Think of it as being similar to Bluetooth beacons.

Software running on a computer (Mac OS or Windows) would simultaneously monitor the "presence" of these advertising nodes. Note: In this version of the concept, the software would need to be able to monitor a minimum of 50 but more ideally up to 100 nodes at the same time. Should any of the nodes' signals disappear (due to specific reasons) for a preset period of time, the software would alert the user (via audiovisual indicators). Ideally a user could also be notified via a companion OS/Android app running on a smartphone or tablet. Also ideally, the software would be able to distinguish the difference between a node signal "disappearing" vs. one that is moving out of range.

I hope those reading this post will consider reaching out to me (dcutler (at) dcsconcepts (dot) com to learn more about the concept, and hopefully provide me with more information about the capabilities and limitations of the Moteino technology. If the idea is feasible, I'd also like to discuss working together with compensation.

Thanks for considering
