Title: Confirmation help please, on the use of Moteino use of Pin D0 and D1
Post by: KrisK on January 24, 2017, 01:02:48 AM
I am running out of Pins for my project.   I thought I could use Pin D0 and Pin D1.   I hooked up an LED to verify some things and discovered it was already set High.   Then I looked at the Schema and of course it is the TX/RX.   I only thought this was used for connecting two hard wires together for transmit and receive.

Should I assume Pin D0 and D1 are used for the radio TX and RX?   I guess I missed it in the specs somewhere?      In my past I never paid any attention because I was simply coding a single arduino without the wifi.

I thought I could use pins D3-D7, A0-A7 and D0,D1  on the Monteino

Thanks
Kris

This page contains the pinouts and what they are used for: https://lowpowerlab.com/guide/moteino/out-of-box/ (https://lowpowerlab.com/guide/moteino/out-of-box/)

If you don't use the hardware Serial device then you can use D0/D1 as GPIO for other purposes.

duuuuuuu.    Thanks Felix.

I was using the serial device to monitor the radio transmissions.      I kept looking at the page referenced ssmall (thanks also)  never thinking that my simple monitor had already used up those pins.

Good news for me.   Bad news for you Felix because I was about ready to purchase a MEGA....     However, as I get a little more scope creeeeeepppppeee   I bet I am out of pins sooner than I want.

I have never used a mega and the more I look at it the more I like the onboard memory and all the PINS... for even more scope creep.
