Cheap Transmitters with Moteino

I want a bunch of sensors to send data to a moteino and was curious if anyone has used one of those cheap RF Transmitters to send data this way.  Could I possible capture packets sent from a moteino to moteino and then just replicate the data in software?

Cheap is not a word I like very much, because it's usually used by people who brag about Moteino being expensive.
Personally I would dislike seeing those "cheap" transmitters used on Moteinos, usually it spoils the brand and vision I have for Moteino. And of course there is 0 (zero) support for anything like that.

Chinese crap is for those who don't value their time and have no interest in reliability and reproducibility.

Expecting somebody to support buying a cheaper version of their product and interfacing with it is, frankly, insane.

Right, not on Moteino but along side. I still use and love the Moteino but if I'm going to deploy 50+ transmitting nodes only it's hard to spend $16 per node so I was just wondering if they could easily communicate with the moteino using other RF devices. I read the post which makes sense especially the spending time coding vs fighting the hardware fight. Thanks.

They are usually ASK/OOK so no they can't really communicate with my RFM69 lib.
